Debate on Gun Control

It is time for stricter gun laws. Terrible things had happened in the past, terrible things will happen in the future, and terrible things are happening to people right in this very moment. When people hear violence or murder, they think immediately of guns. “Just take them away.” That would be a big mistake. Bad people know what they want, and most of the times they get what they want. If we ban guns, bad people will manage to get one and citizens will be defenseless. But on the other hand if we keep the same laws on guns that we have today, things will get out of hand. One solution to this is to just simply create stricter gun laws.

According to www.yahoo.com there was a massive push for new gun laws shortly after the Sandy Hook Shooting. People might have overreacted by some saying guns should be banned. In the moment, I would agree. But after having a long discussion and thought about it, banning guns will only make things worse. Say guns were banned; shortly after they become banned things would be great. According to www.cnn.com  somewhere around 75-80% of the murders in the USA involve felons or those with previous criminal charges. This means that these murderers do not have the right to have a firearm. Practically to most criminals, guns are banned. Yet, situations like Sandy Hook and much more still occur today. The murderers are getting illegal guns. They will find a way to get guns. Once guns are banned, we the citizens will be defenseless and the criminals will find a way to get guns and will have an extreme advantage over many citizens.

According to www.slate.com over 3,514 deaths by gun had occurred. This is an unsafe amount of deaths by gun. The way guns are controlled now is not safe or good. Something must be done before death tolls start to rise. It’s only a matter of time because technology is advancing and people are becoming more educated, people like criminals. If people do not take action about this cause, bad things are likely to happen. Guns have changed, become more advanced. It is now time to make a change for the good of this cause.

A change needs to be made. Guns should not be banned, but guns should also not be ignored. The solution to this problem is to just create stricter gun laws. This way criminals would have an extremely difficult time getting guns illegally, and the situation would not be ignored. These advanced new laws would put an end to all of these violent acts. Guns would be allowed for self-defense and for hobbies such as skeet or hunting. No more deaths, no more violent acts, no more guns in the wrong hands.

Coming to my conclusion I have realized that guns are technically not the problem, so do not go blaming guns and have the urge to ban them. People are the real problem, people purchase the gun, people use the gun, and people kill other people using guns. Also people can control the death toll. Guns have changed, it now time for laws to change. Together we all can put an end to gun violence. Gun safety is an ultimate goal and with new and improved advanced laws, guns will now be safe. But more importantly, the people who choose to use the gun will be safe and properly know how to use it. It’s time to make a change.
